High-Fiber Apple Berry Crumble (Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Egg-Free, Nut-Free Option)

High-Fiber Apple Berry Crumble (Vegan,Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Egg-Free, Nut-Free Option)

There’s something about a warm fruit crumble that feels like comfort — especially when it’s packed with real food fiber and made to fit just about any dietary need. This apple berry crumble has the nostalgic flavor of a classic dessert, but with a dietitian twist: it’s gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, and easily nut-free or vegan.

We packed in apples, mixed berries, oats, and Bloom Boost — our fiber and seed blend that adds a boost of soluble, insoluble, and mucilaginous fiber (our “soak, sweep, soothe” trio).

Why This Crumble Is Gut-Loving and Allergy-Friendly

Most store-bought desserts or traditional crumble recipes rely on refined flour and sugar. This one skips both — using rolled oats, almond or oat flour, and maple syrup instead for a naturally sweet, nutrient-dense base.

It’s also easy to make free from top allergens:

  • Gluten-free: Use certified gluten-free oats and oat flour.
  • Dairy-free: Swap in olive oil or vegan butter.
  • Nut-free: Use oat flour instead of almond flour and skip the nuts in the topping.
  • Vegan: Maple syrup replaces honey, and no eggs are needed.

Every spoonful still delivers that golden, crunchy topping and juicy, tart fruit filling — just made with ingredients that love your gut (and fit real life).

Fiber Power: Why We Leave the Peels On

Apples are one of the best natural sources of insoluble fiber, especially in their skins. Keeping the peel on adds extra texture and boosts fiber content while helping support healthy digestion. Paired with berries (rich in antioxidants and prebiotic fiber), the mix helps feed beneficial gut bacteria and keep things moving smoothly.
Add Bloom Boost — which brings fiber diversity from flax, chia, psyllium, pumpkin seeds, and oat bran — and you’ve got a crumble that supports gut health from every angle.
Each serving offers roughly 6 g of fiber — that’s about 20% of your daily needs, baked right into dessert.

A Note on Flavor: Tart or Sweet, You Choose

We like it a little tart — especially if it’s being served with ice cream or yogurt — but you can easily adjust the sweetness to your taste.

  • For a more tart crumble, use less maple syrup (or none in the filling).
  • For a sweeter version, add 1–2 extra tablespoons of maple syrup to the fruit before baking.

Either way, the maple syrup gives a gentle caramelized flavor that ties everything together — no refined sugar needed.

Bloom Boost in Baking

Bloom Boost blends seamlessly into both the filling and the topping, adding fiber without changing the taste. It brings a nutty, slightly toasty undertone that complements oats and fruit perfectly.

We love using it in:

  • Muffins, pancakes, and waffles
  • Homemade granola
  • Applesauce or yogurt bowls
  • Or anywhere you’d use ground seeds or fiber powder

This crumble is one of our favorite examples of how fiber can be simple, satisfying, and family-friendly.

Why We Love It

✔️ Around 35–40 g of fiber in the whole dish (~6 g per serving)
✔️ Allergy-friendly and customizable
✔️ Naturally sweetened with maple syrup
✔️ Vegan-friendly and family-approved (mostly — Tiago says “no walnuts next time”)

Bottom line: This crumble proves that “high-fiber” doesn’t have to mean boring. Real ingredients, balanced sweetness, and nourishing fiber in every bite — exactly what Bloom Boost is all about.
