We originally created these chocolate chip energy bites as a simple snack to include on our Bloom Boost thank you cards.
And over time, they kind of became the Bloom Boost recipe 😂
We’ve had customers email us asking for the recipe again after losing the card, so we figured it deserved a permanent home here on the blog.
These bites are soft, chocolatey, hearty, and made with ingredients many families already have at home. They’re easy to prep ahead, easy to keep in the fridge, and easy to grab when everyone is suddenly hungry at once.
As dietitians and moms, we love snacks that are realistic — not perfect. Snacks that taste good, feel satisfying, and fit into real life.
These are exactly that.
Why We Love These Energy Bites
These energy bites combine:
- oats
- seeds
- peanut butter
- chocolate chips
- and Bloom Boost for added fibre and texture
The combination of fibre, healthy fats, and carbohydrates helps make them feel a little more satisfying and steady compared to snacks that leave you hungry again 20 minutes later.
We also love that they’re:
- no-bake
- freezer-friendly
- kid-friendly
- easy to customize
And unlike many store-bought snack bites, you can actually see the real ingredients in them.
Chocolate Chip Energy Bites Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup oats (old-fashioned or quick both work)
- 2/3 cup peanut butter (other nut/seed butters work, too)
- 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
- 1/2 cup Bloom Boost
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Pinch salt
- 1/3-1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a large bowl.
- Stir until fully combined.
- Roll into small balls. (usually makes about 24)
- Place onto parchment-lined sheet pan and freeze or refrigerate for 20–30 minutes to firm up.
- Store in the fridge for up to 1 week or freeze for longer storage.
Want more protein?
Add 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder. This can increase the protein content and make them more filling. You can also pair them with yogurt or milk for a more balanced snack.
Want a softer texture?
Replace part of the peanut butter with applesauce for a softer, slightly more cake-like texture.
Want to reduce the sweetness?
Reduce the honey or maple syrup slightly to taste.
Want a stronger peanut flavour with less peanut butter?
Try using PB2 with a small amount of regular peanut butter.
Need them nut-free?
Swap the peanut butter for sunflower seed butter.
A Quick Note on Snacks
We’re not big fans of turning every snack into a nutrition math problem. Sometimes a snack just needs to:
- taste good
- keep you going
- be easy to make
- and help you feel satisfied
These energy bites are simple, flexible, and made from real ingredients — and honestly, that’s enough.
If you make them, tag us on Instagram @bloomboostnutrition. We genuinely love seeing your creations!
Until next time,
